back to normalcy

Yes, I am still alive. No, no one asked. I just assumed someone out there might care. Hmm.

In any case, I’m home again. I’ve actually been home since Friday night, but my best friend came up for the weekend and we spent the time playing instead of doing useful things.

Last week I flew to California to meet my birthmother and my half-brother. The week went really well, much better than I expected. They’re very nice people. We exchanged gifts, did some much needed talking about important things, had a few meals. It was nice.

The weird part is that I felt like I was gone for six months and my outlook on life has totally changed. I hadn’t thought much before about all the things I have and all the wonderful trips I’ve been on and stuff. Now it’s all that I think about. I am so totally blessed in life. It could have been so very different for me. I just…wow. Yeah.

We’re all going to keep in touch. It was a nice visit. Hopefully they’ll come out to visit me once I’ve moved into a house.

In other news, we’re house hunting again. We have an awesome realtor and we know where we’re looking and what kind of house we’re looking for. We think we’ll prolly find one within the next month or so. I have no idea how we’re going to get out of our apartment lease early, but we’ll deal with that when the time comes.

I spent yesterday redecorating my bedroom. It needed it. I repainted some picture frames, framed some other art, hung it all up. I also made a canopy of sorts for my bed, which looks awesome. I’m working on painting my dresser blue. I’ve got it half-way done and Nick is bringing me more paint when he comes home tonight. 🙂

Today I’m working on a picture album for last year. Yeah, I know, I should have had that done before my trip to California, but some things just take longer to get to than others. Oh well.

I got a lot done yesterday, considering that I was supposed to be resting. 🙂 At the moment, though, I can’t quite remember what it was that I did.

The apartment is officially a mess. I think anyone would agree with me on that point at the moment. I mean, yes, the floor has recently been vacuumed, and yes everything’s been dusted this week, but there’s a lot of crap lying around. *sigh* I need to clean.

Went back to SuperTarget this morning. Bought two more of the place mats that Nick mysteriously liked…and got napkins and napkin rings to match. I also got some Xmas ornaments that fit the size of tree we have this year (which is small–and our previous ornaments are large) and a desk organizer that I prolly don’t really need but was cute and cheap. 🙂

David is playing with the remote control again. We’re watching the Jenny Jones show. How nice. Oooh…he found the power button again and now it’s off. YAY!

David’s been interesting lately. He initiated a game of peek-a-boo yesterday when he got tired of me playing with fabric. It was very cute. This morning he -almost- crawled to get my cell phone (which he wanted to eat, of course). 🙂 EEEEEE.

Okay, I’m done updating my journal now. You’ll just have to be happy with the short entries. I haven’t felt much like being online lately.

Not to mention the fact that I had a relapse last night and really can’t do all that much at the moment. I mean, I -feel- productive, but I’m too tired to do much about it at the moment. *sigh*

Still, I’ve managed to make 4 pillowcases and bathe David. That’s something, right? Oh and updating this journal (people were complaining).

More productivity…

It’s still before 8am, but I’ve gotten a lot done today already. 🙂 The kitchen is now officially baby-proofed and cleaned, my plants are watered, the bills pile has been sorted and filed, I’ve eaten, and the x-mas decorations are out for arranging.

By the end of the day, I plan to have my tree up and decorated, the mail ready for the post office, the bathrooms cleaned, and all my email caught up.

Yay.

I must run now. Decorating takes forever. 😉

So not only am I feeling terrible, thinking of switching doctors, and having irrational moments of jealousy/envy…I also have an entire apartment to clean before the babysitter gets here in 3 hours. I don’t think I’ll make it.

Talking to my birthmother – Call #2

I got to talk to my birth mother, Diane, again today. We had another great conversation. 🙂 Turns out that she hasn’t sent me any pictures or letters yet. *sigh* She had just started a letter to me and was going to get pictures made of herself, her husband, and my half-brother this weekend. I’m excited about that! 🙂

Oh, and I’ve apparently inspired my half-brother to go to technical school and learn about computers. Bizarre. Truly bizarre.

Printing Woes

My printer doesn’t love me. It always messes up when printing the second side of things. Grr. This makes me angry. At least the baby is asleep…don’t have to worry about him. I’m very happy that this font is printing out better than the last time I printed something that appeared this way on the screen–that time I couldn’t read the printout no matter how I tried.

I don’t feel like I have energy to do critiques though. Usually I look forward to new stories to read. *sigh* These are both long ones, using up all my white paper. Need to buy more. *adding to grocery list*
